Interview with Peter
Scheithauer
(guitar player
of Temple Of Brutality, Killing Machine, Stream)
First of all,
thanks a lot for this interview.
Hi…what s up? First thanks for giving me time for an interview...
What artist or
band inspired you to play guitar?
First time I really thought “whoa !!! I wanna play guitar” it s when I
saw Kiss with Ace Frehley ……..probably the show and make-up etc
….loved it ….Kiss was like the x-men on stage …..than I listened to a
lot of different guitar players from the 70’s like Ted Nugent, Billy
Gibbons, Michael Schenker, Gary Moore etc…..of course Van Halen
changed a lot the approach on the guitar…..but really during the 80’s
all those guitar virtuoso started to be boring ….nice playing but hey
I´m metal I don´t care about your skills I care about attitude,
agressivity, balls ……So here comes people like Kerry King, Dave
Mustaine, real metal players ….and then Dimebag (RIP) man what a lost
…it s one thing to play heavy, make noises but to be able to be heavy
but have memorable riffs, songs that´s another level ….Dimebag was
that kind of guy, Pantera, slayer are this kind of bands …..newer
bands aren´t …yes it´s heavy, kicks ass but you re coming out from the
show and you can t think about one riff or chorus that s gonna stay in
your brain for the rest of your life …..
How
did KILLING MACHINE´s new line up came to life?
Well I was working on songs and wanted to record a new K M ….I was
working on Temple of brutality as well when I asked Dave if he
wouldn´t mind doing an “old school” cd …I couldn´t reach the original
singer, was never there or lake of focus I don´t know ….anyway got in
touch with James Rivera (one of my fav anyway …) and slowly but surely
we put the new KM together …as far as Juan I know Juan for years … I
don t like to play with another guitar player (probably an ego trip
hahahahhaahahahahahahaha ) no but it s difficult to find the right guy
…but I knew Juan was it …..as a player and as a human being he s
simply great ….Jimmy came along through Dave of course …and let me
tell you what a drummer and also a great guy …….
Please tell us
about the first KM record.
I was jamming with Stet and got a lot of riffs ….talking to Stet we
realized that he knew Mike Vescera so we asked Mike ….same with Mike
Duda …he was working with WASP and the guy is cool…..it was a cool
line up ………but everybody was doing something else ….so I needed to go
forward and here we are ……
Can you tell us
about TEMPLE OF BRUTALITY?
Temple is so cool….lot of freedom ……lot of fun …everybody gets along
great ….same vision…..it s really what I wanted to do all along
….great vibe you know …..and people have to see Todd on stage ….what
an amazing singer man …..i think the other guys everybody knows them
….everybody has a blast playing …..compare to KM …KM is more like a
tribute to our influences ….Temple is what we re now ….no pretention
though just heavy songs ….and hopefully people enjoying a good fuckin’
heavy time ,hahahahahahahaa……
What records
have you done in your career?
Ok I did a few stream records …which were more like my solo cd s since
it was never a real band …it gave me the possibility to play with
amazing guys ….people that I admire since I m a kid ….eric singer, bob
daisley, pat torpey, david reece etc ……I also did a Belladonna record
with Joey Belladonna ….that was fun …..not quiet what I expected in a
sense that Joey wanted to produce and mixed ….but it was fun …he s a
great guy …..and come on he s Anthrax s voice ….period ….. Killing
Machine 1 was great too…Mike is an amazing singer ………..Duda and Stet
are a riot …..Stet is my friend for so long now ….and one of my all
time fav as a drummer ….and I love people with a strong sense of humor
….i did studio sessions for people but that s kind of boring …..i love
the creativity in music ….
Can
you tell us about your equipment?
Well nowadays I m with this great guitar company ESP ….love those
guitars and they re treating me so good …..amps I m endorsed by Peavey
I don t use effects …..its rare ….maybe a little delay on leads but it
s really it ….oh and it has to be loud …real loud …specially since
Stet and myself are going deaf hahahaah….and on bigger stages a
wireless system is helpful….
What do you
think about the music scene nowadays?
It s better ….heavier bands are coming and that s good ….radio bands
trying to sound metal are simply boring ….a lot of those bands try to
be heavy through the production …big sound, thanks pro tools …but they
don t deliver ….it s pop trying to be mean ….did I say linkin park
hahahahahahahaahahah ……..well done product but so is Britney spears if
you know what I mean …metal is a way of life, an attitude...pro tools
don t give you that …..
What are your
favorite bands?
Whoa a lot …………..Pantera of course, Slayer, Testament, Machine head,
Slipknot (except the new cd ), newer bands like Chimaira , Hatebreed,
and old school stuff Judas Priest ,Iron Maiden, Kiss even ZZ top cause
they are real…..
What can we
expect for the live shows of KM?
A good old school show like Judas Priest, Maiden, Dio well at least I
hope so hahahahahahaha
What
are your plans for the near future?, any upcoming project?
Temple of brutality …….it s taking a lot of my time right now ..and I
love it …
Anything to say
to your fans in Chile and to the readers of CDK?
I can t wait to be there play and party with you guys …Stet told me
how great you are …..we ll have a great time and I m sure we ll have a
lot of friends after the tour ……and keep it real ,stay heavy ……..

KM) |
Entrevista a Peter
Scheithauer (guitarrista de Temple Of Brutality, Killing Machine,
Stream)
no me importan tus habilidades, me importa tu actitud, tu agresividad,
Puedes contarnos
acerca de TEMPLE OF BRUTALITY?
la gente gozando un “good fuckin’ heavy time”, jajaja.
Qué otros discos
has hecho en tu carrera?
Singer, Bob Daisley, Pat Torpey, David Reece, etc.
bandas favoritas?
Hatebreed, y cosas old school como Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Kiss,
heavy!.

David Ellefson And Stet Howland Join Forces In TEMPLE OF
BRUTALITY
[Hot Flashes - 05.06.22 19:50:03]
Former MEGADETH bassist David
Ellefson and current W.A.S.P. drummer Stet Howland together form the
rhythm section of a brand new band called TEMPLE OF BRUTALITY. Their debut
album, Lethal Agenda, is complete and awaiting release.
Ellefson recently took part in a Q&A with BraveWords.com - here are the
results:
1) Are you a W.A.S.P. fan?
"I’ve liked some
W.A.S.P. songs over the years, yeah."
2) Who came up with the name Temple Of Brutality and what does the music
sound like?
"Guitarist Peter Scheithauer came up with the name. Originally we were
going with ENEMY OF GOD but we found out there was another band on the
east coast of America using that name and then the KREATOR album came out
under that same name, too. So it was clear we needed to go with something
else. I certainly like the new name just fine!Musically it’s brutal thrash
metal with agro vocals. It’s somewhat progressive at times but is really
just an over-the-top band with pure power."
3) Please introduce vocalist Todd Barnes and guitarist Peter Scheithauer
to our readers.
"Todd is a maniac
singer! We affectionately refer to him as our resident 'redneck'. Peter is
from Germany and I immediately took a liking to his European origin of
metal songwriting and playing style. The combination of the four of us
brings very different styles to the table and that makes the group have a
highly aggressive sound."
4) When and where was the album recorded? How long did it take and who
produced it?
"We recorded the album in Fort Myers Beach, Florida, produced it ourselves
and it took only one week to bang out the entire record! I love that 'indie'
approach to the recording and because of it the album has a real
aggressive feel to it. On some tracks we finished them top to bottom and
then moved onto the next song instead of a more traditional approach of
spending days, or weeks, on each musician playing their parts. Plus, we
worked up the songs on the spot as none of us had played together as a
band before. So putting it all together in that immediate setting really
fueled everyone’s energy for the band. We all went home feeling very
satisfied with what was starting to take root after the session."
5) Is Temple Of Brutality signed to a record deal? When will the album
come out?
"We are in negotiations
now and should have some news on it shortly. People should stay tuned to
www.templeofbrutality.com for the full scoop as it develops."
6) If possible, please provide the complete track listing for Lethal
Agenda.
"Because the label
negotiations are still under way I can’t formally address the titles yet.
However, there will be about ten songs on the disc."
7) Will TOB be filming a video? If so, for which song and what will it
look like?
"We are planning the
video now and hope to have that to coincide with the release of the
album."
8) While Stet is on the road with W.A.S.P., what will you be doing?
"I’ve been busy getting
the F5 record out this summer and have been in the studio working with a
slew of other recordings too, many of which will be coming out this year."
9) Any plans for Temple shows?
"Once we have the album slated for release we’re very excited about the
possibilities of getting out to do shows. I think they will be pretty
slammin’!"
10) Is the graphic on TempleOfBrutality.com the album cover? If so, were
you not apprehensive about depicting the 9/11 attacks on the Twin Towers
in NYC?
"The album graphics are different. The lyrical tone of the record is about
the growing tension against the world powers that dictate the way in which
society has to live. Western cultures enjoy some of the best freedoms in
the world but there is a great dichotomy in that there are high levels of
strife and grief in order to have those freedoms. Todd’s lyrics are pretty
expressive about these issues and I think T.O.B. is a snapshot of a
violent society we live in despite our freedoms."
11) Is TOB a full-time band or a side-project?
"We’re all very excited
to get the album out and from there we have to see where it goes."
12) Last but not least, please provide a full F5 update.
"The F5 album, A Drug
For All Seasons, is out in Japan/Asia, will be out in Europe July 11th and
North America by September. It has been a labor of love for me doing the
work with that group and I’m excited about people finally getting to hear
the album. It’s taken a while but I think it will be worth the wait."
